Mira Mira on the wall, who’s the raddest shop of ‘em all? An eclectic, runway-driven clothing boutique in the heart of the Mission, Mira Mira claims the title in my eyes.
Stocking elusive, independent designers from around the world, shop owner Mira Pickett continually curates collections of fresh, easy, unexpected cool — the quintessential SF style.
My surf travels to Australia instilled in me a great love for Australian designers, and Mira Mira satiates my Aussie cravings in between trips to the Land Down Under. On Mira Mira’s racks, fellow Aussiephiles can find labels like Shakuhachi (pictured above) and Neuw — most necessary if you, like me, want to dress like the lovely How Two Live ladies.
Ace & Jig (pictured above) is another Mira Mira staple, straight from NYC. It’s little wonder that I love this brand — it’s by the founders of LaROK, a favorite from my college days.
Cropped tops, jacquard pants, and Moroccan poufs — shopping here is like shopping your hip sister’s closet, with her full, unadulterated support. And with a neighborhood vibe, Mira and her girls make navigating the trends and styles unintimidating and exciting — all at a very reasonable price point.
Textures, colors, cuts, lengths — Mira studies up and makes life easy for her shoppers. Case in point: when I attended the Bold Italic Spring Formal, the only gal that caught my eye with her gorgeous, cutout dress (a Spring 2013 trend according to Elle) stated the obvious: she found it at Mira Mira.
And not to forget the accessories. The jewels are always gorgeous, never an afterthought — all with a story and a past. I love these Sheila B green garnet chainmail earrings: intricate, edgy and with bold colors.
If you’re curious to see these gems on yourself, stop by Mira Mira on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at 6 pm for a Sheila B Trunk Show & Ladies’ Night! Added Bonus: 15% off all store items during the event.
I’ll see you there. xx
