I’m currently trying to get my act together this morning to drive down to L.A. but wanted to share a fun date night idea in the case that you’re in the search of one for tonight. Every Thursday night at the California Academy of the Sciences is adult fun night with live music, food pop ups, and fun cocktails. Brendan and I finally checked it out a few weeks ago and were so surprised to see all the great exhibits inside. We had no idea that there would be aquariums and live penguins and a lush forest — oh my! So if tonight’s date night, head over and explore.
Tip: if you’re single, this looks like a great place to meet other singles out in a pack of friends. Just be sure to load up on some random facts to interject into conversations. Or however it is that you singles meet other singles these days.
^^If you’ve followed along this blog long enough, you know my obsession with taxidermy (which Brendan finds strange). So imagine the squeals of delight when I walked into the large foyer and saw these large giraffes.^^
^^I’m also a big fan of aquariums. Although I hate the feeling of fish brushing up against my legs while out surfing, I do like admiring them through many layers of glass. And if you look closely, the seahorse detailing on my shirt fits the scene perfectly (a total coincidence).^^
^^Wearing J. Crew boys’ shirt, Zara jeans, Via Spiga vintage loafers, Asos cross-body bag^^
^^And the penguins were too adorable. I could stay and watch them for hours (kinda like how I can watch Layla and Penelope play for hours — if only Layla could tolerate it for more than a few minutes).^^
The fine print: the evening event begins at 6 p.m. and it’s best to buy tickets in advance (to bypass the line at the window). The talks in the Forum and in the Planetarium require advance reservation so plan accordingly. And remember, it’s 21+ so no dice for you youngings. xx
